Coupons

Well, first entry into my blog. My personal view on using coupons. As we all know using coupons can save us a ton of money. I have yet to figure out how to do like the people on Extreme Couponing on TLC, but I am working on figuring it out. First off, where can you find coupons? Well the obvious is the Sunday paper. But sometimes in the Parade magazine there are coupons as well. Online is a great place to find coupons, coupons.com, Couponmom.com, redplum.com, smartsource.com, bettycrocker.com, campbellskitchen.com, are great sites to print coupons. But when printing coupons you need to know the stores policy on coupons. Here locally, the only store that requires coupons to be in color is Kroger. Kroger also doubles any coupon up to 50 cents, all day, every day, even if the coupon says do not double, they double it. Now, there are also sites that you can load coupons on your discount card that just about every grocery store has, I only have my kroger card registered at kroger.com, cellfire.com, shortcuts.com, I just found out recently that food lion has online coupons, and shortcuts also let's you register a lowes foods card also. The advantage to coupons already loaded on your card is that you can use them in conjunction with paper coupons, for instance, I have a online coupon for 50 cent off of one can of green beans, I also have a paper coupon of the same item and value, I take it to kroger the item is on sale for $1.50, they double the paper coupon, and the online coupon comes off, so the item costs me nothing. Can't beat that. The only disadvantage to coupons loaded onto a cars is, they are not doubled, and once you use it, it is gone, unless it is able to be loaded later. I choose kroger to do 97% of my food shopping mostly because they double coupons. Also, look out for special sales. Get the coupon item on sale and save even more. Everything goes on sale within 3 months, they run in cycles. Other places to find coupons, convenience stores, and the stores themselves. Grocery stores have dispensers all through the store with coupons, and they do not have to be used at that store. I recently found candy bar coupons in a convenience store, used them at kroger and to date have gotten almost 50 candy bars for less than tax on the bars, almost free. I have done this with pasta as well, buy one get one, use a coupon, a box of pasta for about 20 cents, and they do not expire for 2 years. A lot of people follow the grocery game, I personally think it is dumb to pay for information you can find for free, so I urge you to check out southernsavers.com. That covers it for now, I hope to post more blogs about this subject, please excuse any typos, and any questions, litlpat@hotmail.com, stay tuned for the next one, who knows what I might have to say, literally, and figuratively
Patrick
