Dog Treats

For those that have dogs you might want to look at making your own dog treats. I decided to 2 years ago when in Walmart I saw the price of store brand biscuits 5lbs for 6 dollars. So I went home and figured out a recipe our dogs love, literally, almost like crack, and is very, very inexpensive to make, plus, the ones I make are all organic and contain no dye. Here is what I do......I use one cup of wheat flour, you can buy a bag of this for under $2 and it goes a long way for making treats, plus it is good for you to use yourself as well, one cup of oats, 2 cups of water......now, that by itself is a very nutritious treat, but most of the time that is my base, I on occasion mix 3 tbsp of ALL NATURAL peanut butter, or I throw in some carob chips, cause dogs cannot have chocolate, or honey, the last ones I made I mixed in bananas. Keep in mind what fruits dogs can have and cannot have. Oven is set at 375, I do not waste my time scooping it out into nice little dog bone shapes, the dogs don't care, I use a small scoop, or you can use a regular sized spoon, I have used a plastic cake piping sleeve, but I think the scoop does much better. Bake 30-40 minutes, until slightly brown, let cool, your good to go, now, since they are all natural you must keep them in the fridge, they will spoil fast left out. Hope this helps save some money, with 4 dogs, I guarantee making our own treats has saved us more than $200 the past 2 years easily, questions, litlpat@hotmail.com
